Baby blues are feelings of sadness a woman may feel in the first few days after having a baby. These feelings are normal and I want other moms to know it’s ok to feel like this you are not alone. I would like to share 4 ways to increase your mood after childbirth.
Social Connections
It’s important to be able to communicate with other women who share similar experiences. Try to stay connected with other moms even your old friends. Always remember it’s ok for you to have a social life. Catch up with an old friend, have lunch or even grabbing a coffee can increase your spirits.
Remember What’s Important
When things get frustrating take a moment to reflect on life. Think about your family and your family values. Realize that as a Mom you have a great role and purpose here on earth. Keep in mind how important your family is and smile mama you got this. As new moms our lives are changing quickly, identifying your values and exploring new ways to live out your commitment to what you care about is essential.
Fresh Air
Being indoors constantly with a newborn can certainly get you down. Studies have shown that getting outside even if it’s to take a stroll around the neighborhood can increase your mood. Getting fresh air and enjoying the scenery is a must after childbirth. If your not able to go for a walk, try to get a few steps in around your backyard. Even taking a small walk to the mailbox counets.
Show Yourself Some Love
As a mom your a natural at nurturing. Nurture yourself by giving yourself a pat on the back. Think of encouraging things you would tell a friend and say those things to yourself.
Motherhood can be overwhelming at times. Take a deep breath and never feel ashamed to ask for help. Letting your partner know you need a little break from time to time is fine he should understand. Please share in the comments some of the ways you were able to cope with baby blues.
